Tomorrow, February 19, marks the 11th anniversary of the tragic murder of Mike "DREAM" Francisco. DREAM was a true titan, both in the game of art and the game of life, and he's left a lasting legacy in Oakland's graf and hip-hop scenes. To pay tribute, The Town's best DJs and MCs have gathered to perform on Dream Day 11 at The Oakland Metro Theater. In the early part of the evening, attendees can view a gallery of street art from DREAM's TDK Crew and others, and then DJ Qbert, Bored Stiff, Boots Riley of the Coup, Zion I, Hobo Junction, Rock Force Crew, Hopie Spitshard, Dub Esquire, and other special guests will hit the stage. The Bay has always kept it idiosyncratic, and this event will honor that uniqueness by celebrating one of the area's fallen heroes.
All proceeds will benefit the Dream Book Fund and the Dream Legacy Fund for his son, Akil, 11, who recently lost his mother to breast cancer. To contribute to the Funds, you can send checks to:Irene Francisco-Ancheta427 Central Ave.Alameda, CA 94501
